" A pessimist, they say, sees a glass of water as being half empty; an optimist sees the same glass as half full. But a giving person sees a glass of water and starts looking for someone who might be thirsty." -G.Donald Gale.
A man named Henri Dunant witnessed unimaginable suffering on the battlefields in 1859. Several years later, in 1896, the same man founded The Red Cross. In 2002-2003 there was a total of 29 412 volunteers helping others through the Red Cross. The Red Cross devotes itself to helping people around the world, by relieving suffering caused by fighting, natural disasters, illness, and poverty. They also help by teaching people to live healthier, make better choices, and have a better quality of life. The Red Cross also helps people prepare for unexpected disasters. The greatest thing about the Red Cross is that most of its members are volunteers. They donate their time, money, and sometimes risk their lives for the benefit of strangers. The volunteers donate part of their life for others!
