The Twin Towers were completed in 1971 with 99 elevators, 3 central stairwells, fits more than 50,000 people, and 100 stories high (1,352 feet high)(Langley 42). They were destroyed on September 11, killing 2,973 people(Langley 56). Roselle was a hero on that day. She may been a dog who been scared of thunder, but stayed strong and saved her owner's life on the day that America was attacked. Her owner was not any person, he was blind. They worked together to get through the North Tower before it fell down and became a dust cloud(michalhingson.com).

Not any dog can be a guide for the blind. It takes focus and training. Only 50 percent of the puppies who are raised to be a guide dog pass. Training is not an easy thing for anyone; it takes time and hard work. Roselle was raised by Kay and Ted Stern from Santa Barbara, California(michalhingson.com). They had done a little training when they had her(michalhingson.com). They took her to New York to get her introduced to crowded places(michalhingson.com). Another place they took her to would be the theater, which helped her learn the way she was suppose to act and sit(michalhingson.com). An airplane was an important object she required to get use to and know how to act by and in. She would need all this in the future when traveling to her new home with her new owner. When Roselle was old enough to go back to the Guide Dogs for the Blind school in San Rafael, California(michalhingson.com). Roselle was born on March 12, 1998 at GDB(Guide Dogs for the Blind)(michalhingson.com). This is where she will be learn the commands like "Forward"(foxnews.com) There is different training at GDB(guidedogs.com). One way is called "intelligence disobedience"(guidedogs.com). Methods of training are treadmill workouts, clicker training, general food rewards, treadmill training, and emergency responses for the handler's safety(guidedogs.com). Skills the dogs learn are leading a person in a straight line from one spot to another spot, stopping for all changes in elevation, stopping for overhead obstacles, and avoiding obstacles in their path(guidedogs.com). This training helped Roselle on September 11, 2001 to get out

September 11th was a scary for the whole United States of America. On this day four planes got hijacked by 19 hijackers(Langley 21). Only four of the hijackers were trained pilots and the rest were responsible for keeping the passengers on the plane under control(Langley 21). American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon and 189 people died(Langley 21). United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03(Langley 21). United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower between the 77th through the 85th floor at 9:03(Langley 21). American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower at 8:46 between the 93rd through the 99th floor(Langley 21). On the 78th floor in the North Tower was where Roselle, Michael, and Dave on September 11th, 2001 at 8:46(Hingson). When the building started to sway and make a thunder noise, we know they should leave the building(Hingson). Michael started to smell something but could not name the smell until a while later he said it was jet fuel(Hingson). Everyone tried to stay calm by telling little jokes(Hingson). To help Dave ran down to the next floor to see if it was safe(Hingson). He kept doing this to until we got to the bottom(Hingson). Roselle would give a doggie kiss to every firefighter that passed them going up to the upper floors(Hingson). 343 staff members of the fire department of New York had died on this day(Langley 56). Roselle had become a hero to more people than just her owner. She gave courage to a woman on the way down, when she thought she would not make it to safety(Hingson). She had become my hero by just doing her job.

A hero is not just a person who saves a life. A hero is a person who does their job. Roselle did more than her job. She gave courage to others. She got ten awards for helping people out of the Twin Tower on 9/11(Hingson). She is my hero by helping out a blind person and lifting the mood when something bad was going to happen(Hingson). I was shocked that they went down 1,463 stairs(Hingson). Roselle is a guide dog that I hope my brother would get. I don't know what I would do without my big brother. He had become blind around 14 and now has a yellow lab as his guide dog. I wish my brother's dog could be like Roselle. Roselle is my hero because she was doing her job and I hope my brother's dog does the same.

Roselle was a dog, who help out people get out of the North Tower in New York(Hingson). She was trained to guide her owner who is blind around. She had done her job and now has passed away(michaelhingson.com). To this day her owner does speeches about that day on how she was not scared and stayed strong. On April 18, 2013 I had heard his speech about that day and to find out more about Roselle(Hingson). Roselle stole his socks and every time someone was at the door she would bark(Hingson)(micheaelhingson.com). She was a loud snorer and the perfect match right away(michaelhingson.com). She was so special to him, he wrote a book about her called Thunder Dog(Hingson). Roselle was scared of thunder, but saved her owner on the September 11, 2001(Hingson). Her owner is thankful he had her to guide him out.
