Rover Henry Burden

by Michelle from Alcona

My hero is my dog Rover Henry Burden. Rover was born in Newfoundland Labrador on April 10, 2000 on a big farm. Now here's the story. One day my family and I went to the beach to go swimming. I was in the water by myself. Well, everybody was talking, but I started to float away, all the way to the second sand bar when Rover heard me yelling. So, he went in the water and swam to the second sand bar to save me.

Two weeks later my dad and I went for a walk to the store with Rover when Rover got off his leash. He started to run side to side when he got hit by an oncoming car. My dad and I went back to the house and got in the truck and went to get Rover, but Rover was walking across the road to the truck. We took him to the vet. He broke his ribs, but he lived.

Four months later, Rover was doing fine and up and running. One beautiful day my cousin Madison and I went tobogganing and we were on our last run down. We were headed for the trees. Madison bashed into the trees and broke her neck. Rover rushed home, pulling Madison in the sled. Madison is doing well now, but she still remembers that day. That's why my hero is my dog Rover Henry Burden.
