My hero is Susan B. Anthony. She was the women’s rights activist. If she didn’t do what she did, women wouldn’t have as much rights and women would not be able to vote.

Susan was born on February 15, 1820 in Massachusetts, where she grew up. In 1851 she wrote a newspaper for women’s rights. Later she formed the Women’s loyal League Organization on May 14, 1863. On December 27, 1872 Susan and 14 other women voted illegally as part of her protest. Susan was later granted the permission to be the 1st legal woman voter. But, she didn’t stop there. She spent most of her life working for women’s rights.

Susan stood up to everyone, even though she knew they wouldn’t listen because she was a woman. She said that women should be able to vote. One thing she said was: “I have encountered riotous mobs and have been hung in effigy, but my motto is: Men's rights are nothing more. Women's rights are nothing less.” A little while after she died women were allowed to vote. Susan never gave up or stopped just because someone told her no. She continued to fight for what she believed in.

Susan B. Anthony is my hero because she never gave up and was very determined to fight for what she believed in. It took quite a while, but she finally got what she wanted, for women to have as much rights as men. And, if she did not do the things she did, who knows, women still may not be able to vote and have as much rights as they do now. Susan B. Anthony is my hero for her determination to never give up.
