Shel Silverstein

by Christian from Van Nuys

My hero is a poet

The hero that I search for is a poet. I wish he still lived. His name is Shel Silverstein, he is the inventor of the books called Where the Side Walk Ends, The Giving Tree, Falling Up, the Missing Piece, and a Light in the a Attic. These books are fun to read. You should read them, they're fun and not boring like other poems. This poet made poems fun to read for everyone.

There are many reasons why he is a good poet. The first reason I say is if he never existed poems will be so boring. He made every poem, maybe some that we can understand and some we can’t get them. He had a way of writing things. What I like about his poems, some I did not understand. I did not know what he was trying to say to the reader. My favorite poem is invention. It is a really short poem. Too short.

My other reason he’s also my hero is he made his pictures funny and cool. He made his pictures so we can enjoy them. They look interesting in all his books. This is not really supporting but his pictures are all black and white. He has a cool drawing style.

He also is my hero because he has a poem called Invention I told you already. This poem is in the book Where the Sidewalk Ends. If you want to read it you can go to the library to check it out. From all his books my favorite is Where the Sidewalk Ends. You already know why I picked this book. I like it so much that I even have his book as my favorite one.

He’s my hero, he can be yours. You can find stuff about him in this website called www.myhero.com. You should check it out. If you don’t want him to be your hero, you can search some one else. Shel Silverstein is my hero. He could be any one's. Would he be yours?
