Spela

by Eva from Ljubljana

My hero is my best friend Spela. I met her when she moved to our village in 2003. At first we didn't get on well, we just couldn't handle each other. We never played together when we were younger, never hung out and never really talked.

All our childhood we were separated. I belonged to one group of people and Spela belonged to another. The two groups didn't really like each other. Each of the groups had its own leader and all other members always listened to him/her, they didn't have the right to say what is wrong and what is right.

Time runs so quickly but i still remember everything that happened back in those days which are now so far behind us. Then when we grew up our groups have decayed. We finally started thinking what was good for us and what wasn't. So in 6th grade we started hanging out together each day. When we first started talking to each other the conversations only lasted a few minutes and were pretty awkward. Later on all that changed. We would ride bikes, listen to music, dance, play and do all the other things together.

But the real friendship between me and Spela was merged when i was in 9th grade and we were both grown up. We became best friends, talked all day and night, had sleepovers over and over again. We never got tired of each other. Nowadays we still do all those things not daily but frequently. That is because now we are both in high school and we don't really have the time to hang out that much after all education is important. However our friendships still lasts and i think it will last until the end of our days.

The reason why I call her my hero is that she always helps me when I am in need and always tries to cheer me up when I am in bad mood. She also helps other people when something bothers them and doesn't expect anything in return. I hope you can see why I see her as my hero. She is the most gorgeous, amazing and trustworthy friend I have.
