St. Peter the Rock was born in Galilee but no one knows what year or any for sure date. His feast day is June 29. Not Much is known about Peter's early life, his original name was Simon but when he became a follower of Jesus his name was changed to Peter.

Peter was fishing one day when Jesus approached him and said I will make you fishers of men, then Peter put down his nets and followed Jesus. After that day Peter followed Jesus until the day he died.

While Peter followed Jesus he didn't always believe very deeply in his faith, for example when Jesus was walking on the water and he told Peter to come out with him on the water. Jesus told Peter to put his faith into it and he would be able to walk on the water also, but Peter didn't believe and he started to drown then Jesus walked to him and pulled him out of the water.

The night before Jesus died he had the apostles which Peter is one of, Jesus told them to stay awake and pray with him but they fell asleep multiple times. Finally Jesus got angry with them and he was shortly arrested after that and the next was put to death.

"Prayer To St. Peter"

"Let them in, Peter
For they are very tired
Give them couches where the angels sleep
And light those fires
Let them wake whole again
To brand new dawns
Fired by the sun
Not war-times bloody guns
May their peace be deep
Remember where the broken bodies lie
God knows how young they were
To have to die

You know God knows how young they were
To have to die

Give them things they like
Let them make some noise
Give dance hall bands not golden harps
To these our boys
Let them love Peter
For they've had no time
They should have bird songs and trees
And hills to climb
The taste of summer
And a ripened pear
And girls as sweet as meadow wind
And flowing hair
And tell them how they are missed
But say not to fear
It's gonna be all right
With us down here

Let them in, Peter
For they are very tired
Give them couches where the angels sleep
And light those fires
Let them wake whole again
To brand new dawns
Fired by the sun
Not war-times bloody guns
May their peace be deep
Remember where the broken bodies lie
God knows how young they were
To have to die

You know God knows how young they were
To have to die

And tell them how they are missed
But say not to fear
It's gonna be all right
With us down here

It's gonna be all right
With us down here"
