Saint Sebastian, born in Narbonne, Gaul. Later in his life he joined the Roman army in 283. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes. He died January 20, 287. He died a martyr and a patron saint. In the Roman army he was named captain in the Praetorian guards by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. His Feast Day is on January 20, 287 A.D.

While he was in the army, the Emperor heard that Sebastian had beliefs in Jesus and the Emperor got very angry. The Emperor wanted Sebastian to be tied to a post and have his people shoot arrows at him. But what they didn't know is that Sebastian did not die from the many arrows.

Saint Irene came upon Saint Sebastian's injured body and took care of him until he was better. Saint Sebastian, once he was recovered, complained to the Emperor about his treatment. The Emperor was insulted and told his soldiers to stone Sebastian to death.

Saint Sebastian's motivation was that he lived from the first execution. He ended up surviving the arrows and tried to change the world by returning to the Emperor and standing up for himself by saying the Emperor's treatment was very cruel. He had faith and he believed in himself.

Sebastian is a great patron saint to look after because he had a lot of faith and he believes in himself, which is very important. He was the saint who was known for "dying twice". Many Christians prayed to Saint Sebastian during the plague. His image was also very popular during the Renaissance. Many paintings of Saint Sebastian were made during that time.
