Steve Stricker

My hero is Steve Stricker. He is currently the third best player in the world. He has been a professional golfer since 1990. He has 11 professional wins. The most recent one was in 2007 at "The Barclays". Steve Stricker hadn't won on the PGA Tour since 2001. He was losing faith in his golf game, until 2006 and 2007 came. He won comeback player of the year in both 06' and 07'. Also, he won his first PGA tour event in 6 years in 2007. With this win and a few top 10's, he moved himself to fifth in the world. Then when he got second on the first event of the 2008 season he moved himself to third in the world. He is one of my all time favourite golfers. A cool fact about Steve Stricker is that his wife has caddied for him through his whole PGA tour career only stopping for two years to deliver their baby.

Steve has achieved status on the PGA tour for many years now. Sometimes making it to the PGA tour, but very rarely not. It may not sound like much, but even just making it to the PGA tour is something some people have tried to achieve for all their life and never have. He also has won 11 times as a professional. He has won four times on the PGA tour and seven times on different professional tours. He joined the PGA tour when he was 33 and has been on it ever since. He is currently 40 years old and still winning on the PGA tour. Just last year he won at the Barclays, a golf tournament. This tournament was no ordinary tournament though it was part of golf's first playoffs, where all the best golfers in the world are competing. One of his greatest accomplishments is in 2007 was being inducted into the Wisconsin Hall of Fame.

Stricker was born and raised in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He now still lives in Wisconsin, but in a different city called Madison.The city of Madison is a fairly large city. They have their own college basketball team, who are great competetors. It also has its own University. Along with long beaches, Zoos, nature centres, farmers' markets, a variety of clubs and their very own annual winter and summer games, Steve Stricker lives very comfortabley because of the millions of dollars he has earned over his career. Madison was the perfect place for him, his wife and child.

My hero is important to me mainly because of how much he has accomplished so late in his career. Although he was fairly good when he first turned pro he never won as many tournaments or as much money as he has in the past few years. This inspires me because I started golfing when i was 10 alot later then most people would. Since i started so late it is going to be hard for me to be the best in my age group. I still beleive i can do it though because i have won a few tournaments and won the overall junior club championship at my golf course when I was 13. To me witout Steve Stricker I wouldn't have as high as hopes and dreams as I do now.
