Mats Sundin is my hero because he inspires me to play hockey as well as I can. One day I hope I get in the N.H.L (National Hockey League). He is 6 foot 2 and is in his late 30’s, and he was born in Switzerland.

Mats was the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs for 4 years. I hope I am the captain next year on my team. In the year 1989 Mats became the first European player to be the number one pick.

He started at right wing but afterwards he changed to center. In his whole career he made more than 200 goals! In a game he usually makes two or three goals.

The hardest shot he ever took was around 80 mph. In his rookie season of 1988-89 he made 10 goals and 8 assists.

He inspired me and I will hate the day when he retires all my life. That is why he is my hero. If you are reading this, Mats, keep up the good work!
