Timothy

by Jack from Loveland

Although most people think of heroes as well decorated soldiers, flashy football players, or superheroes when they hear the word hero. My hero is Timothy from the Bible because he was selfless, had perseverance, and he sacrificed what he had. This man showed many different heroic qualities.

Sacrifice is a heroic quality of Timothy because he showed it in many different ways. Like when he left his family to serve God and tell others about Jesus, or, when he gave his life and was stoned to preach the word of God. Devotion was also a characteristic of Timothy, he devoted his whole life to serve God.

Another characteristic of Timothy was selflessness. He showed it his whole life. For example, when he gave everything to preach God's word, giving his whole life so others have a good life, and go to heaven. When he stood up for God, was another way he showed sacrifice. Sacrifice was also shown by Timothy when he risked going to jail, and when he risked his life to preach the word in front of leaders of other religions.

The last but not least heroic quality was Perseverance. Even after he went to jail he continued to teach the extraordinary life of Jesus Christ. When people put him down and discouraged him stayed loyal to God and stood up for his faith. When he was threatened he still loved and followed God even to death.

So the next time someone asks you who your hero is don't just think of strength and power. Think of the kind things they did or the thing they stood up for. Even when it meant losing their lives to help someone in need. "I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service." 1 Timothy 1:12
