Troy

by Brock from St. Paul

I grew up in Cannon Falls in a nice house. Yet, my childhood was pretty unstable. My parents quickly got a divorce. I moved to Red Wing with my Mother for awhile. But, soon moved back. My Father and I don't always get along. But we will always be best friends, father and son. He is a large man. He loves the outdoors. He has a big beard. I've been told many times that we have the same eyes. I will always look up to him as my hero. I love him although we don't always agree. I have many examples to support the way I look up to him.

When I first moved back I grew deep into a sadness. I was unhappy with the move and was not fitting in well at school. I looked to my Father for support. He allowed me to move in. He made me my own room. I began to make friends and started to feel better about things. When I become a Father I hope my child will look up to me for support. Sometimes things get tough when there is a divorce, but he was always there.

When I was younger my family decided to have a day out on the lake. I was still in my diaper and very curious. My whole family was on the pontoon. Somehow I had managed to escape the grip of my mother and wiggled away. Nobody could find me. Until suddenly my Father snatched down into the water and grabbed me up by my diaper. He saved my life. I owe my life to him.

My Father owns a his own seal-coating service. He helps me out by giving me a few side jobs here and there. Like I said before, we don't always get along, but we get the job done together. It makes me feel good when he tells me I do a good job. It's so nice that when I need to make a few bucks I can look to him. I want to someday have my own business. He is perfect to look up to.

In conclusion, the main guy I look up to in my life is my Dad Troy. He has always been there for me, helps me through the hard times, and loves me. As stated above, when I grow up and have children (which I want to do) I want to resemble my Father in some aspects. Not to mimic everything he has done in his life, but to be a good Father.
