Umar ibn elkhatab

My name is Rand El-Nammari. I am a student in the seventh grade at Shu'fat Basic school for girls in East Jerusalem.

My hero is Umar Ibn Elkhatab. He's a Muslim leader well known for his courage, physical strength and justice.

One important incident happened when he visited the Church Of The Holy Sepulchral at Jerusalem. At the time of the prayer he left the church and prayed outside it. Nowadays there is a mosque built at the place where he prayed at. Another important thing happened when he took Jerusalem in his charge. He allowed all its Christian citizens to keep on staying at Jerusalem without changing their religion.

This shows how he believed that Islam and Muslims should respect other religions and their places of worship.

He's my role-model as well as my hero.
