Denise Parker

by Adrienne Diefenderfer

Denise Parker is a music teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District. She was my high school choir director. Not only did she guide me musically, helping me get to the PMEA All-State Conference by the end of my senior year, but she also guided me through some of the most pivotal moments of my development as a person.

Whenever I was i need of someone to talk to, she was there. She has always believed in me. She ended up leaving my high school to work at a middle school in the district but continued to work with me musicially, though she had no obligation since she was no longer my teacher. She knew how important it was for me to eventually make it to the PMEA All-State Conference, and she made it her personal goal to see that I got there.

Mrs. Parker is one of my heroes because she has gone above and beyond her responsibilties for her students - not just for me. She shows compassion and kindness in everything she does.

In my current, blossoming teaching career, I can only hope to be half the inspiration and motivation to one of my students as Mrs. Parker was for me. She will forever be someone I admire for her strength, composure, talents, presence and desire to do whatever she needs to make this world a better place.
