Would you like to learn about people who helped make our future better for us? Well, you can learn about Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913, and grew up in Pine Level, Alabama. Her bother’s name was Syvelster. Her parents names were Leona and James. Leona was a school teacher, James was a house builder. Rosa Park and her family lived on a farm.

Many things in education were different back then for black people. The schools for black kids were bad. The schools didn't have clean bathrooms or water fountains. The classrooms were small and crowded. The schools were segregated. White children and black children went to different schools. There weren't many good schools for black children.

Rosa Park was a seamstress In her spare time she liked to go fishing and she liked to read.

Rosa Parks is famous because she tried to fight for her rights by not listening to a white man who told her to get up from her seat on the bus. This sparked the Civil Righs Movement. In 1996, Rosa recieved the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 1999, she also won the Congressional Gold Medal. She was rewarded because she fought for her rights and the rights of all people. She died on October 25, 2005, at the age of 94.

Rosa Parks was a famous woman and she taught other people and me how to fight for our freedom.
