St. Peter’s true name was Simon. He was the son of Jona (Johannes). Before he followed Jesus Christ, he was a fisherman. He wanted to follow Jesus because he knew that He was the Messiah, The Living God’s Son. Peter was the apostle who had the most faith in Jesus. His faith made him able to walk on the surface of water.
When Christ was going to the cross, Peter said that he would follow Him, even if he lost his life. But, after Jesus was judged, and Peter was asked, ”Do you know Him," he said, ”I don’t know Him.”
Peter denied Christ three times, but he regretted it and cried. To redeem his mistakes, he became the bravest evangelist. Even he could cure people in the name of Jesus. When he was going to die, he asked to be crucified with his head downwards.
His efforts to show his faith in Jesus amaze us. He gives us inspiration to be more faithful to God. We never imagined that a human like us could have such faith.
We, the students of Petra 4 Christian High School, admire Saint Peter and want to be like him. And that’s why we chose him as our hero.
