Cookie Girl in the Hot Zone Film Produced by Skip Blumberg
Skip Blumberg is one of the original camcorder-for-broadcast producers. His independently produced TV programs and camcorder reports have appeared on PBS, Showtime, The Disney Channel, National Geographic Explorer, The Learning Channel, Bravo and other networks, and are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of TV and Radio. Blumberg has produced more than 100 shorts for Sesame Street. He lives and works in Tribeca, New York and is President of Friends of City Hall Park.
The short film, Cookie Girl in the Hot Zone, was created as a proactive reaction to the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Blumberg's foresight and expertise, combined with 12-year-old Jemma Brown's ambition and sincerity, resulted in a film filled with the warmth and generosity of the human spirit. Only three days after the towers collapsed, the two Tribeca neighbors paired up to capture the spirit of a resilient community to compassionately care for the workers coming and going to the World Trade Center site.
