I chose Terry Fox as my hero because Terry ran across Canada to raise money for cancer reseach in Canada and all around the world. I also chose Terry Fox because no one had the guts to do what he did. I picked him because he died at the age of 20 and that is young to die.

Terry was born in Winnipeg and raised in Port Coguitlan, British Columbia. He lived in a small community near Vancouver, Canada’s west coast. Terry ran every day in the town. Every day he tried beating his record. Then he tried to run to each town. When Terry had leg cancer he tried running to Thunder Bay. When he got there he got cancer in his stomach.

When Terry was 17 he loved playing sports with many of his friends. Most of Terry’s friends didn’t take sports as seriously as he did, but that didn't stop him. Terry was on the basketball team, and the track and field team. He tried playing basketball in a wheelchair. Terry also liked hockey, but he was too busy playing other sports.

Terry was 18 when he was sadly diagnosed with leg cancer. Terry was so overcome by the suffering of people with cancer that he decided to raise money for cancer research. He succeeded in raising more than 2 million dollars in just a couple of years. Sadly, Terry passed away when his dream was just beginning to come true.
