Terry Fox

by Ariel MacDonald from Nova Scotia, Canada

Terry Fox is one of Canada's running legends. He is an inspirational hero for a lot of people because he ran for cancer research. Terry was brave and faithful for running as far as he did with his disability and not giving up, but rather attempting to finish what he started. He motivated people all over Canada to donate money to the cancer research program.

Terry Fox was very brave because he attempted to run a 5,300-mile marathon from Newfoundland to Ontario. He could not finish his run. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to his lungs, and he was forced to abandon the race on September 1. It was very devastating for everyone. He came so far, only to be stopped by such a horrible disease.

Terry was faithful in saying he would really make a difference in helping cancer patients, and he did. Soon after he was stopped, CTV organized a telethon in hopes of raising more funds for the cause. Now because of him, every year, we donate money and run for him, like he did for us.

Terry was so motivated he could make cancer research better to help ease the pain of all the patients who were suffering the way he was. He also motivated people from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario to help raise money along with the rest of the world that was touched by this amazing journey Terry was on.

Terry Fox is an inspirational hero for everything he did for cancer research. He is a legend for being brave, faithful, and motivating people everywhere to donate money. Terry has done so much, I just wish he was still here to see what he helped accomplish.
