The Worship of the Goddess
by Prakash G. Nayak
Painting
The artist's work is influenced by his traditional Indian roots. North Kanara is a traditional and folk community of Karnataka. Their thoughts and practices are influenced by the belief in (yantra-Mantra) and the Village Goddess "wooden statue." This illusionary reality takes a decorative form in Nayak's work. Fish, snake and flam motifs contribute to what the artist calls his "rhythmic narrations."
