Taylor Swift

by Anna Alarcon from Wassenaar, The Netherlands

You may think of Taylor Swift as a celebrity.  A strong and powerful person who some people may think of as overly obsessive, but who I think of as a hero. She treats her fans just like she treats herself; she wrote a song that not only got millions of hits but she also used it against Donald Trump and she is super persistent. So here is more about My Hero.

Connection between her fans

Imagine being able to meet your favorite singer with an invitation to their house! Well if you’re a Swiftie, you might just be able to! Taylor Swift isn’t a pop star diva; she doesn’t even act like one! In fact, she is the complete opposite. If you go on tumblr, twitter or Instagram you can write something on her account messages and if you are lucky enough she might be able to read it and invite you to a secret fan session at her house! Another way to get invited is to go to her ERAS tour concert and try to get noticed but it's already hard enough to get a ticket with how popular she is with the tweens!

 Only the Young

Did Taylor Swift use a song against former American President Donald Trump? Believe it or not, she did! Not only does Taylor write all her songs but she also writes new ones to fight for human rights. She wrote a song called “Only the Young” that won the People’s Choice Award in 2020 and Best Original Song in 2021. The song tackles gun violence and fake news. Afterward, Donald Trump said, “I think I like Taylor Swift’s songs 25% less.” Imagine having not only a songwriter and singer but also having a politician underneath all that Style! (Style was the name of the song that Taylor Swift wrote for Harry Styles, her ex).

To Be or Not to Be?

The real question we are asking ourselves is, to be or not to be? Taylor Swift chose to be persistent and to never give up even when things are really hard for her. One example of this was when she did not win the Best Pop Vocal Album. She was nominated for it but the song Sweetener by Ariana Grande won against her. Another example was when she got an award called Best Female Video but then Kanye West interrupted her and ever since he did they had Bad Blood. (Bad Blood was another song that she wrote that was supposed to represent the betrayal of Katy Perry, a close friend of hers who Perry re-hired several of her former backup dancers — who were working at the time for Swift — to join her on her Prismatic World Tour). And after all her betrayals, award drama and gossip about her, she never gave up and so she created the album “Speak Now" specifically for all the times she was betrayed. So the answer to that question is: To be.

The End

One thing that’s for sure is that Taylor Swift will never stop surprising her fans every day and give the best concerts of her life even when it comes to inviting total strangers to her house and having to fight back the President! She is able to post more songs even when the worst is here. So in my opinion Taylor Swift is the perfect hero for me because of all the inspiration she gave to me and all her fans to follow your dreams, just like I will: Writing my own songs and singing them!
