Emma Watson

by Adali Flores from Chicago, Illinois in United States

When at 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn't want to appear muscular. When at 18 my male friends were unable to express their feelings. I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me,"

In 2013 she won the GQ’s Women of the year award.  At 24 years old, Emma Watson has already been involved in promoting girls education for several years and has previously visited Bangladesh and Zambia as part of her humanitarian efforts  She has worked to promote fair trade and organic clothing, and has severed as an ambassador for Camfed international a movement to educated girls in rural Africa.  Emma Watson became a UN Goodwill ambassador in 2014, she dedicates her efforts as a UN ambassador to women in favor of empowerment and promoting gender equality. Encourages all men and women to participate in change and act against negative labeling to achieve gender equality.

I chose Emma Watson as my hero because I think she is part of the small group of women who decide to fight and defend our rights and values in this society and not only for women but also for men who think they cannot express their feelings. She wants equality for everyone and everywhere. She inspires me because she uses her experience and her money to do good things for other people. She cares about other people, not just herself. she motivates everyone one to be part of the fight.  If I knew her I would like to ask her if at any point in her life she thought about becoming a feminist and belonging to the UN.
