“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.” Alexander Graham Bell
|Alexander Graham Bell
My hero is Alexander Graham Bell, inventor and teacher of the deaf. Alexander was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the second son of three to his parents Alexander Melville Bell, and Eliza Grace Symons Bell. His brothers were Melville James Bell, and Edward Charles Bell. Their mother was deaf, but she homeschooled them all while their father worked as a teacher of the deaf, and a scientist and author in the field of vocal physiology and elocution.
Alexander eventually became an inventor and a teacher of the deaf. In 1874, he made the decision to invent something to help deaf children. After experimenting for a while, Bell developed the theory of the telephone. That same year, he invented the harmonic telegraph. On March 7, 1876, Bell received a patent for his invention of the telephone, that could be used by people to talk to people somewhere else. It could also be used by the hearing impaired to learn to talk.
Alexander Graham Bell is a hero because he invented the telephone and the first hearing aids. Alexander always wanted to invent things and help deaf people. Bell’s mother was deaf, and he admired that, and she was a hero to him. She was a teacher, musician, and painter of portraits. When he was 14, Alexander and his brother Melville made a speaking machine. They used the voice box of a dead sheep to make a machine that says “Mama”. Alexander’s father was also a hero to him because he was a deaf teacher, which was a profession that Bell wanted to do someday. Bell’s parents were a big influence on his life, and inspired him to do what he did.
Many lives have been inspired by Alexander Graham Bell, including mine. He invented the telephone, which was an advantage to many people. The invention of the telephone was to my benefit, because I have a cell phone that I use a lot, and the invention of the telephone led to the invention of the cellular phone. The invention of the telephone led later to the invention of the hearing aids, which are to my brother’s benefit because he is deaf, and they help him hear. Many other people also have telephones, cell phones, and hearing aids, and benefit greatly from their inventions.
Alexander Graham Bell is a great name in the history of inventions. His inventions have helped many people, including his mother, myself, and my brother.
