"How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot in the Caribbean by providence impoverished, in squalor, grow up to be a hero and a scholar?" (Lin-Manuel Miranda). Who would've known that an orphan, immigrant would one day grow up to be of the most visionary Founding Fathers: Alexander Hamilton. Alexander Hamilton is more than just the face on the ten dollar bill, he had creative visions and a hard worker.

Alexander Hamilton was born in the Nevis British West Indies on January 11, 1757. Hamilton's childhood was difficult because his father walked out on the family, and his mother died shortly after in 1768("Biography of Alexander Hamilton."). From the British West Indies Hamilton came to America for an education. Hamilton dropped out of college to help the patriots' cause, meeting: Aaron Burr, Hercules Mulligan, and George Washington. In the beginning of the Revolutionary War, Alexander Hamilton became Washington's aid, 'Washington soon came to rely heavily on the advice of Hamilton"(Uschan 81). Following his military career, Hamilton went back to New York where a little bit of law, but soon became elected to Congress(Uschan 82-83). Alexander Hamilton helped the process of establishing the Constitution by defending it in the Federalist Papers(Uschan 84-85). Under Washington's presidency, Hamilton became the Secretary of Treasury, which led him to the idea of having a National bank(Uschan 86-87). After a long political career, Alexander Hamilton's life came to an end when his rival Aaron Burr challenged him to an illegal duel in 1804(Uschan 91).

At a young age, Alexander started to show one of his admirable traits: his work ethic. When he was left with nothing, he decided to get a job:"Determined to improve his lot in life, Hamilton took his first job at the tender age of 11, not long after his father left"(Biography.com Editors). Hamilton worked as a clerk at the import- export firm Beekman and Cruger, where he handled the money, tracked goods, and mapped out courses for ships(McCarthy). His work ethic caught the eyes of the people he worked for. Nicholas Cruger especially valued Hamilton's intelligence, so much so that he and other businessmen, including Hugh Knox, were willing to fund his education in America(Biography.com Editors). His hard work at a young age got him the ticket to New York in 1773. Another example of his hard work came after the revolution with his dedication to co-authoring the Federalist Papers("Alexander Hamilton"). He worked hard to defend the Federalists' political stances and promote the newly written Constitution by writing 51 essays(Lin-Manuel Miranda). These examples demonstrate how Alexander Hamilton was a hard worker and strove for a good work ethic.

Hamilton's hard working personality helped turn his creative vision into reality. One of his creative vision was to establish a National bank(Lin-Manuel Miranda). "One of the most important of Alexander Hamilton's many contributions to the emerging American economy was his successful advocacy for the creation of a National Bank"("People & Events"). Hamilton as early as 1780, wondered why America didn't have a National Bank alongside Europe("People & Events"). It was only until 1784 that Hamilton helped found the Bank of New York.("People & Events"). This idea was creative because it gave Americans a uniform currency, and it helped place the United States on an equal financial footing with the nations of Europe("People & Events"). Thanks to Hamilton's idea, we have currency and banks that still stand today. His creative vision gave him ideas that would benefit our country.

Alexander Hamilton's work ethic helped him grow into the visionary founding father we know. With Hamilton's creative mindset, he imagined and fought for the revolutionary National Bank that we still have today. Hamilton inspires me to work harder to achieve my goals and aspirations and share my ideas with others. Through Alexander Hamilton's creative idea, and hard working personality, we learn that you can start from anyone or nothing and become anything you aspire to be.
