When most people think about the word hero, they think of a strong, brave, unstoppable superhero from the cartoons. All peoples’ descriptions of heroes are different. My description of a hero is a person you look up to, respects people, cares for all people under them, and never looks down on anyone. My hero is the young new hip-hop singer and song-writer Alexis Jordan. She is a big inspiration to me and many of her other fans.

Alexis Jordan was born April 7, 1992. She is from Columbia, South Carolina. She was a contestant on the first season of America’s Got Talent in 2006. She was very young when she got discovered. When she got a little older she became one of the biggest Youtube stars by posting singing videos of her singing covers to popular songs.

Time passed and her videos got more and more popular, until she got discovered and brought to the studio by the former rapper Jay-Z. She said she was amazingly excited to meet Jay-Z and his current wife, the singer, song-writer, and actress Beyonce Knowles. Alexis Jordan said that they were very sweet people and she was glad to be the one to work with Jay-Z. She was signed to Jay-Z’s label called Star Roc/Roc Nation. She recorded her first song “Happiness” and her first album “Alexis Jordan”.

I look up to Alexis Jordan because she didn’t give up hope. She kept trying and trying and she finally got discovered after all the hard work. She showed me that if you keep trying and never give up then you can do anything. I learned that if you don’t make an effort then you don’t get anything out of it. You only get out the same amount of effort that you put in. I guess hard work does pay out in the end. Alexis Jordan may not have super powers or can fly, but she most certainly is my hero.
