Aryabhata

by Rushil from India

Influenced the birth of trigonometry.

My hero is Aryabhata. Aryabhata was a mathematician and made unique and ingenious discoveries in the field of mathematics and astronomy. His discoveries have found their way into the world of Vedic mathematics and astronomy and has been written down in the Vedas.

Aryabhata is a hero to me because he has made great achievements in mathematics. While the number : 0 was made by Brahmagupta, Aryabhata gave the rules to use it. He came up with an approximation for pi (). He also found the area of a triangle.

My second reason is that he made great discoveries in astronomy. He proved that Earth was orange shaped whereas other people thought it had edges . He proved that Earth and the other eight planets revolve around the Sun. He said that Earth spins around its axis.

The third and last reason is that he invented many terms in mathematics. Here are three of the trigonometric terms invented by him - Cosine versine inverse sine.

Additionally, he created a method to calculate the length of a chord, called the half chord method. He also made a table of sines. This is heroic because he was the first one who came up with this idea, which could make geometry very simple. He was a genius in astronomy which was India's most studied subject. He was one of the greatest rishis in the golden age of Indian mathematics.

Aryabhata is my hero because of his achievements and what he invented. Aryabhata was at the time of the golden age of mathematics in India. He was born in Kusumapura. When he was 24 years old, He made the famous Aryabhatiya. He was a mathematician-Astronomer.He was born in 476 AD and died in 550 AD. He was inspired by many other mathematicians like Lalla, Bhaskara 1, Brahmagupta and Varahamihira, who were more ancient than him.His main interests were in mathematics and astronomy. He became a very famous rishi.
