The thought of a high school dropout worries many people, but when Bill Gates came into view, he put their minds at ease. In addition to being the world’s most powerful innovator, Bill Gates donates his time, money, and energy into funds and organizations that inspires students all over the world to pursue their dreams and rise above expectations.

William Henry Gates III, born October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington, “might be best known as the co-founder of Microsoft and the world's richest man.” (10 Ways Bill Gates Is Helping the World) “Bill Gates is an American entrepreneur who designed and developed innovative software for the personal computer (PC).” (Gates, Bill (1955-)." Scientists: Their Lives and Works.) In addition, Gates has three children; Phoebe Adel, Rory John, and Jennifer Katherine.

Bill Gates discovered his love for technology at a very young age, “He began studying computers in the seventh grade at Lakeside School in Seattle, where he met childhood pal Paul Allen. Allen, who was two years older than Gates and shared his interest in technology, and would eventually become the budding entrepreneur's business partner.” "Gates, Bill (1955-)." Scientists: Their Lives and Works) Gates entered Harvard University in 1973 and pursued his studies for the next year and a half. “At the age of 31, Bill Gates was the youngest person to become a billionaire.” ("Gates, Bill (1955-)." DISCovering Biography). Even while making billions, Gates manages to be involved with giving back to the community, and donating his time to organizations he is passionate about. “He stepped down as the company's chief software architect, effective immediately, and announced that he would give up all of his managerial positions at the company in July of 2008. Gates continues to be Microsoft's chairman and a part-time technical adviser to the company, but he devotes most of his time to directing the activities of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.” ("Gates, Bill (1955-)." The Gates foundation has found that the more good they do, the more people it affects. More money is raised, more folks take notice and, most importantly, more people are helped.” (10 Ways Bill Gates Is Helping the World) Bill and Melinda Gates gives time and effort to those less fortunate, and to witness the result of the people and the causes that they have assisted is truly remarkable.

On top of Gates’ generous donations to worldly affairs, he also finds time to speak publicly about what needs to be changed in our school system and what we, as a country, can improve on when it comes to education. “Bill Gates assailed American high schools before the assembled state governors and immediately thereafter in a Los Angeles Times op-ed. ‘We have to walk away from the outdated idea that only some students need to be ready for college and that the others can walk away from higher education and still thrive in our 21st-century society,’ said America's richest man, a dropout.” (Racey, Gerald W. "RESEARCH: Finland Update.") Gates uses his wealth for so many selfless things. He inspires student’s everyday to follow through with their education and inspires them to think that they can do anything if they put their mind to it. He spends a big majority of his money on student scholarships, and high school renovations. He cares deeply about what the future is going to bring for students and wants all students to have an education and an identity.

Always bringing new things to the table, Bill Gates is constantly negotiating, donating, teaching, creating, and delivering business deals. There’s never a dull moment in Bill Gates life, which keeps him interesting. Gates is quoted saying, “‘I can do anything if I put my mind to it.’ And he plans to do just that.” (Gates, Bill (1955-)." Online) Bill Gates’ life is a very long list of achievements and accomplishments. “When he was just 15 he set up his first software program with a schoolmate named Paul Allen” Ferrell, Keith. After doing that,he introduced the first version of the popular Windows operating system.”

“Gates's competitive drive and fierce desire to win has made him a powerful force in business.” (Gates, Bill (1955-)." DISCovering Biography. Online) Bill Gates is a hero because he has created an empire doing what he loves to do. He pursued his passion which made him the richest man in the world. He inspires people all over to go after their dreams and make something out of themselves. In addition, he donates his money to noble causes and gives so freely and frequently. Bill Gates is a hero because he has influenced the 20th century greatly and as if that isn’t enough, he feels the need to give back.
