Dalai Lama

My hero is the Dalai Lama, he is both a political and spiritual leader of Tibet. He is the 14th Dalai Lama in the history of Tibet. In Tibetan Buddhism the Dalai Lama is the manifestation of the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The Dalai Lama has done many things for the Tibetan people and has inspired people from all over the world. He has given hope to thousands.

I am very picky about which heroes I chose for myself, seeing as how they are very important parts of my life. My heroes need to follow a strict idea of peace. None of my heroes use violence to get what they want. I admire people who fight for the rights of others by using their minds and hearts. I also appreciate courage. My heroes' courage are usually shown by standing up in a dangerous cicumstance and not backing down no matter what they are faced with. My heroes are inspirational and instill hope in people that have lost theirs. It is also extremely important to me that they do things for others with no thought of their gain in the situation.

The Dalai Lama believes in achieving goals in a peaceful manner, this is one of the most important traits for a hero to have, to me. He gets tremendous results by touching people's lives and showing them the way that things could and should be. He is extremely courageous, he says things that people do not think that the world is capable of, he says that this world can be peaceful and that people can be happy, which can be a hard thing to say. He instills hope in times when it is hard to have any, he inspires people to achieve their goals and allow themselves to be happy. He has a deep love for his people and I truly believe that his efforts and actions are sincere, I do not believe that he could have gotten as far as he did if he was only thinking of himself.

The Dalai Lama has done many things for the advancement of Tibetan people, and the world. He stood up agianst the colonization of Tibet by China, even though he knew that China was a powerful force. He fought and is still fighting for peace in Tibet by attempting to nagotiate and persuade. During a protest in Tibet, China took violent force against Tibetan people, forcing the Dalai Lama and others to escape from Tibet and go to India. Since then the Dalai Lama has done many things to make the Tibetan refugees more comfortable in India and to preserve their culture. He has made sure that the Tibetan children in India were educated on their culture and people, he has made sure that Tibetan refugees were taken care of with agricultural settlements, and now many monistaries stand in order to preserve Tibetan Buddhism. He has done many more things to inspire, protect and preserve peace throughout the world.

The Dalai Lama is extremely important to me, and many others. He inspires hope and faith, which is something that really touches me. He also gets what he wants through thoughts and imagination, not through violence, which is something that I consider a very strong achievement. I am also very interested in Eastern religions and like many of the beliefs that they have, which might be another reason as to why I like him so much. I like the passion that he has for his people. He has strength that I can only hope to achieve in a next life.
