Princess Diana

by Julianne from Chapel Hill

A hero is a person that helps others, does the right thing and makes the world a better place no matter what the cost. Lady Diana Spencer is a hero. She is generous, inspirational and brave.

To begin with, Lady Diana was born July 1, 1961. She went to Riddlesworth Hall and Health Girl’s School. She married Prince Charles July 29, 1981 making her a princess. Even though she was not a princess by blood, qualities of a true princess showed through. She and Charles had two sons, Princes Henry and William. Although, sadly, Charles and Diana divorced August 28, 1996.

To continue, Diana was an incredibly generous person. She gave to many charities, being president of fifty. She also sold about eighty of her dresses, raising $5.7 million donating it all to cancer and AIDS funds. To add, Lady Diana gave a man who had lost a leg in an explosion and was blind in one eye an apartment to have as his own.

Additionally, Lady Diana was very inspirational. She shared her personal issues from the past like bulimia with the public. She did this to show others that it is possible to overcome problems and tough times. This encouraged fans to do the same. She also used her wealth to help others and the Earth instead of putting it towards luxuries for herself. This taught people to put others before themselves making them better people.

She was also very brave. She shook hands with an AIDS victim in public when it was thought to make you sick. This proved that she didn’t care what others thought of her and just wanted to make someone else feel good. She also promoted awareness of the danger landmines. This saved many people from death and injury.

Lastly, Lady Diana died in a tragic car accident while trying to get away from paparazzi on August 31, 1997. She will always be remembered as a hero. She devoted her life to make others lives better and the world a better place. Lady Diana is my hero.
