Donald Bird and David Young have married each other three times, but the San Francisco couple mark their anniversary each year on May 30 — the day they caught each other’s eye in a San Jose park and somehow ended up spending the rest of their lives together. They are watching the Supreme Court, like many other same-sex couples, and hoping the right to marry — which was so vital to them — will be extended nationwide. But they will celebrate their 50th anniversary on May 30 of next year, regardless of what the high court decides.
