David Susuki is a famous Canadian environmentalist, scientist and broadcaster. He has spent his adult life teaching the public about environmental issues through his TV show and in his teaching. He has also won several awards for his work. David has written 32 books as well as 15 books for children.
David was born in Vancouver in 1936. His family owned a dry cleaning company. His father loved the outdoors and took David and his twin sister on camping and fishing trips. This helped David to learn to love nature. David and his family because they are Japanese spent three years in the camps during the war. After the war David and his family settled in Ontario. David went to the US and got his degree in Zoology in 1958.
In 1969 Suzuki starred in a children's science show as well as several other radio and tv shows during the 70s. Science 1979 David has been the host of the TV show "The Nature of Things". The show is shown in 50 countries around the world. In this show, David talks about nature and science and the importance of saving our planet. He won an award from the United Nations for his show "A Planet for the Taking".
David Suzuki is now retired from teaching and spend his time educating the public about the importance of nature and our earth. I chose David Suzuki as my hero because I like nature and I think what he is doing is a great thing. He is not only my hero but he is a hero to our earth.
