Hayley Wickenheiser

Hayley was born in Shaunavan, Saskatchewan. She was born on August 12, 1978. She has one sister and one brother. She started hockey when she was 8 years old. She moved to Calgary when she was young. She moved to Calgary because of the hockey opportunities for her and her sister and the lacrosse opportunities for her brother. Her hockey career started when she was 15.

Hayley went to elementary school in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. Then she moved to Calgary and went to St.Vincent de Paul Junior high and Bishop Carroll High School. Haley completed two and a half years of a Bachelor degree of Science at the University of Calgary. When Hayley was 15 years old when she got accepted as a member for the Canadian women’s national hockey team. In 2003, Hayley’s hockey skill was so good that she became the first woman to play for a men’s professional hockey team. Hayley played for a Finnish professional hockey team.

Hayley has won four Olympic medals. She won one gold medal this year. She is the only female to ever play on a men’s hockey team. As well as playing hockey, she also plays softball. Hayley has won Most Valuable Player two times for the women's hockey team. She is number 22 and her position is forward. Hayley’s favorite moment was in 2002 when she won the gold medal in Salt Lake City. She says that it was the best win of her career. She is known as one of the toughest athletes in the hockey league. She is a five-time world champion. She was the captain for the 2010 Olympic team. Hayley Wickenheiser is living her dream being an athlete. She also played softball and fastball. She played for the 2000 Olympic summer games. During the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Hayley worked for CBC Sports as a sports commentator during the softball games. Hayley was the first woman to score on a men’s professional hockey team.

Hayley Wickenheiser is on the women’s hockey team. She was in 4 winter Olympics and got gold at Vancouver in the 2010 winter Olympics. She is one of the best female hockey players in the world. Hayley lives with her husband and her son Noah, who is 10 years old. When Hayley isn’t playing hockey she likes to spend time outside mountain biking, reading books and watching hockey on TV. Hayley has spent most of her life playing hockey. She is very nice and is a role model for girls who would like to be an athlete. All Hayley’s work has been paid off by the hockey she‘s been in. Who would have known that Hayley is as great as she is? Hayley is not only good at hockey she is good at making friends, playing softball, fastball and lots of other things. Her son must be so proud of her. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet her? Hayley wickenheiser is one of the most famous and best hockey players in the world. She is a great Canadian athlete.
