Derek Jeter is my hero not just because he is a great baseball player, but mostly because he is a great man. Derek Jeter gives considerable amounts of money to charity, is willing to sign autographs for young children, and is a great baseball player. Derek Jeter inspires me to do my best in sports and school because he worked so hard when he was a kid. He was part black so he had to deal with people treating him unfairly. Derek Jeter also had to do well in school and sports.
Derek Jeter achieves many things in life because he tries his best always in everything and never gives up. For instance, when he strikes out he says he will get a hit next time. Derek Jeter has a great attitude. He always has his head up and is a good sport.
Derek Jeter has won many World Series and has been the key to many of them because of his long training and hard work as a baseball player and spending time after practice to improve his baseball skills even more. I wish I had been born earlier so that I could have seen Derek Jeter and the Yankees win the World Series.
I once met Derek Jeter at the Ritz Carlton in Boston, Massachusetts. He was with Jorge Posada and they were both huge! I was star-struck because Derek Jeter is a great man and I was so honored to meet him. We had a nice conversation about our lives. That moment was one of the best ones of my life.
The picture below shows Derek Jeter jumping into the stands to steal a hit from the Boston Red Sox to save a game and take one for the team by injuring himself so his team could win the game. Derek Jeter is my hero because he is tough, kind, a team player, and does not care what others think of him.
