Vince Carter was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was a McDonald's all American basketball player in 1995 out of high school. Vince spent three seasons playing basketball at the University of North Carolina. Off of the court, he donated large amounts of money to his former high school. He also has won five awards for playing basketball; they are: eight-time All Star, 1999 NBA Rookie of the Year, 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Champion, and a 2000 Olympic gold medalist.
Vince Carter is my hero because he inspires me to be a good player and a good person off and on the court. He also is my hero because he's a great player on the court and when he's off the court he donates large amounts of money to charity. He also donates money to his former high school and even visited a school after a terrible shooting that took place there.
Vince also inspires me to be my best in band because he did his best in band and succeeded in it. He also never bragged about his talent through school and that is also another good example that he is putting out to his fans. He also had his highlights in his career that makes him my hero, like when he was participating in the 2000 Olympic games. He jumped over a 7 foot player and made a dunk!
Some of Vince's achievements are in the NBA and others are even greater like when he donated $10,000 to his Alma Mater. Others are like when he runs summer All-Star games for charity which every penny goes to. He runs and owns the Embassy of Hope, a charity that he owns and runs for cancer.
Vince Carter also thinks more of school than even his most loved sport and career basketball. That is why Vince Carter is my hero.
