Film Festival 2005 Disposition Film

by Produced By Peter Bertoli

Peter Bertoli is a fourteen-year-old student filmmaker. He is a freshman at Oyster Bay High School, and he has been interested in filmmaking for over two years.

In his short film, Disposition, Peter explores a series of fractured images. His combination of these fractured images with sound and animation helped to create an edgy and engaging piece of work.

This film was one of my earlier films were I tried to create a set of images resembling a “waking dream” sequence. I experimented with creating technological-like animation and setting it against more cerebral visual images. Their connection is how I envisioned our mind might work to set a person’s mood, temperment or "Disposition". That is where the film's name comes from.

In the statement below, he describes his inspiration behind his film, Disposition:

"My film does not have a specific hero or image, which makes up its content. The heroic quality has more to do about what was happening as I was making it. My grandmother was terminally ill with cancer during that time and died before I finished it. It was a long illness and she endured a great deal of pain. She was never able to see the final product, but I know she would have liked it. I talked to her about it when I visited her at Hospice in Connecticut and it made her happy to hear what I was doing. I thought of her often as I was making it. When I see it now, I am reminded of her."

Peter's short film, Disposition, displays his raw talent as a young filmmaker. We look forward to watching Peter grow as an artist and wish him all the best with his future creative endeavors.
