Would you ever believe that a high school dropout would become one of the best NASCAR drivers in the world?  Well that's what my hero did!  My hero is Dale Earnhardt because he was determined, courageous, and inspiring.

He began his career in 1975 driving in the world 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  During the course of his career, he won a total of 75 races, and 7 championships, which is tied for all time with Richard Petty.  His determination earned him the nickname "The Intimidator."

Dale was a courageous man for the 25 years he raced.  He came in first 75 out of 661 races.  He finished in the top five 275 times and the top ten 420 times.  That's being courageous and determined.

He was also a really inspiring person.  He has many fans and he was an idol to many people.  He won many races including the Winston 500 for a final career victory.  Even other race car drivers thought he was a great driver.  They thought he was an inspiring person.  To many people he was the best NASCAR driver ever.  The reason so many people think that he is inspiring is because he is a legend and is in many halls of fame.

So to sum it up, Dale Earnhardt was the best to ever drive a race car.  There might be great race car drivers to come, but in my eyes, there will never be another Dale Earnhardt!
