Born on July 13, 1942, Harrison Ford is probably most famous for his role of Captain Han Solo in the Movie “Star Wars.” Ford also played the role of Indiana Jones in The Indiana Jones Trilogy, “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”.

Ford was born in Chicago, Illinois. In 1960, Ford graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. Ford attended Ripon College in Wisconsin, but he never graduated. Ford's first speaking role in a movie was in “Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round." Ford was in many TV shows in the early 1970’s, but gave up acting to be a carpenter so he could support his wife and children better.

Ford's acting career picked back up in 1973 when a man he had built cabinets for, George Lucas, gave him a role in the movie, “American Graffiti.” Later on Lucas hired Ford to read lines to actors in his upcoming movie “Star Wars.” While Ford was reading, director Steven Spielberg decided that Ford was well suited for the part of captain Han Solo. After his role in “Star Wars” Ford was highly successful. He went on to star in many more movies, and was listed as the world’s richest actor in the 2001 Guinness Book of World Records.

As well as saving the world in movies, Ford is also working to preserve the real world. Ford supports many charities including Conservation International, E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, Orca Network, and The Screen Actors Guild. Ford also supports many causes such as Anti-Abuse, Animals, Conservation, Human Rights, Environment, and The Creative Arts. He has been awarded the Jules Verne Spirit of Nature award. For his work he has had a species of spider named after him, and a species of ants named after him.

Ford also supports archeology, and is a general trustee for the Archaeological Society of America. He helps them to prevent looting, and to endorse archeology. Ford also helped the homeless by serving hot meals at a Thanksgiving feast in a mission in Los Angeles. Ford has been married twice, and has four children, three sons, and one daughter.
