Peata Melbourne

Ko toku rangatira he wahine no te kohu a ko Peata Melbourne tera. He wahine whai mana a Peata ehara noa iho he rangatira noku engari mo te iwi Maori..ara te iwi whanui hoki! ____________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________

My Hero Peata Melbourne is a child of the mist. One of the reasons why she is a great hero to me is because she has strived to reach her potential at University, from this she has landed a position as a news presenter on a programe called "Te Kaea". She is a prestigious young woman that isn't just a hero for me but also the wider Maori community.

_____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________

Peata has been involved in television for a long time. She has starred in several Maori programmes but she has just landed the role as a news presenter at Te Kaea in the weekends. Peata is still studying at Massey University. She also was a news presenter on Te Karere for 18 months. The reason why Peata wanted to work in the media industry is because she felt that mainstream did not cover all important venues or news to do with Te Ao Maori, so she feels it is hers and the Te Kaea team's responsibility to broadcast these issues.

Ki a au nei kua eke atu a Peata ki te taumata tiketike, he wahine e mau tuturu ana ki tona motuhaketanga ara ki to tatou Maoritanga, he wahine purotu, waihoki he tauira hei akiaki i a au, hei whaia ahau i ona tapuwae...kia tae atu au ki toku taumata tiketike. _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________

I believe that Peata has reached the pinnacle of achievements, she is a Maori woman who has been able to uphold her unique heritage and she has strived to achieve in not only bilingual but in the mainstream area as well. Finally she is an example who encourages me, so I may be able to follow in her footsteps. One day then I will be successful and reach the pinnacle of achievements following her example. =]
