Shania Twain

"Fall seven times, stand up eight," was said by a Japanese Proverb. This quote very much describes a girl that was born in Canada on August 28, 1965 named Eileen Edwards, now known as Shania Twain.

Shania's mom had always seen her talents when she was just a young girl. She was sending her from radio and TV studios, community centers, and senor citizen homes. But when she was about 21, both of her parents passed away in a tragic car accident. Her career that she was only beginning was put on hold because she had to take in her three younger siblings. As soon as they were old enough to be out in the world all alone they left her to herself. She came back and made a song that wasn't all that great on the charts. "Eileen" then changed her name to Shania because it meant "I'm on my way."

Shania Twain then became a very successful singer. She landed a recorded deal with Mercury Records. She has made four CDs and one greatest hits CD. Shania was the favorite female county artist in 2000 and the favorite female musical performer in 2000 also. One of her CDs called The Women in Me sold 18 million copies and almost all of Shania Twain's songs have hit number one on the charts. She is one very successful woman in the music industry.

A hero must help people when they are in need. Shania Twain is a huge supporter of Harvest Hope Food Bank. She is a long time supporter of America's second Harvest and its associates like Harvest Hope. She doesn't just care about herself she likes to take the time to support the less fortunate than her. Also she doesn't try to take all the fame at her concerts. She likes to get the crowd involved so that it's not boring. At Lexington High School, Shania let 12 of the drummers in the band come up on stage and perform with her. Then at one of her concerts she actually let many audience members come up on the stage and sing along with her. Not many singers allow that.

Shania Twain never gave up when she was going through hard times like with her parents dying and having to take in her younger siblings. She was always very ambitious. She turned out to be a very successful county singer. She has won tons and tons of awards and made many CDs. You can't forget that she helps many hungry people out in the world and that she involves many people in her concerts. Shania Twain is the best candidate for a hero in my book.
