A hero is someone who inspires people to try to make a difference in the world. Heroes try to make the world a better place. I believe that a hero is someone who is willing to put themselves on the line for ordinary people. Heroes are leaders and they are brave people.
Venus Williams is a phenomenal tennis player. She plays tennis on the international stage and uses her popularity and media presence to spread her message of goodwill and charity work. Venus Ebony Starr Williams was born on June 17,1980 in Lynwood, California. Venus Williams had been coached by her father, Richard Williams. She started playing the game of tennis at age four. Venus had dominated in the Junior Circuit before she had turned pro at age 14. In 2000, Venus Williams was named Sportswoman of the Year by Sports Illustrated. She is said to be the "Female Michael Jordan." Venus Williams is a winner of 17 Grand Slam Titles. She was home schooled and then studied fashion design at the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale.
Venus Williams and her family were poor people. They lived in the high crime areas of Compton, California. Venus Williams lived through many challenges in her life. One of her challenges was when she lost one of her sisters, Yetunde Price, who had been murdered. So, to overcome this grief Venus did a runway show to raise money for the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute.
Venus Williams is doing charity work to raise awareness in low income areas. She was given an award in 1995 for conducting tennis clinics in low income areas. Venus Williams has inspired me to help the less fortunate children in India. The school I attend has been put to a challenge to buy water bottles for $15 to help buy water filters in India. Venus Williams is an inspiration to me because of her hard work, time and dedication to help others. She has shown me that with her busy schedule she still has time to help with doing charity work and with helping the less fortunate.
A hero is someone who tries to make the world a better place and inspires others to do the same. Some people believe that there is a hero in all of us. I believe this too, because we do not have to be world class athletes to be a hero. I am an ordinary person and I get told that I am a good leader. Heroes can come in many different shapes and sizes. It does not matter if you are an ordinary person or a celebrity. You can still change the world and be considered a hero.
