My hero's name is Marie Curie. She is a scientist and she discovered many types of metals. I think she is a very important hero because she helped the world in many ways. She was also the first woman to get a Nobel Prize.

Marie Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland, on November 7, 1867. She was called Manya by her parents, Bronislawa and Vladislav Sklodowski. Marie was the fifth child in her family. As a young girl Mariw was the star pupil in her classes. Marie hoped to get an advanced degree.

Marie Curie bacame famous because she discovered radium. Today, we use radium for cancer therapy. It has saved tousands of people. Marie Curie won a nobel peace prize because of her discoveries. Marie Curie died on July 4, 1934.
