Rudolf Maister was a soldier, a major. With a rapid mobilization, he established the Slovene army of four thousand soldiers, disarmed the German Schutzwehr security service, and disbanded the army of the German city council. He then occupied the Slovene ethnic territory, establishing the northern border between Austria and the former Jugoslavia.
Rudolf Maister was born in 1874 in Kamnik. In the year 1894 he finished school in Vienna. On June 21, 1916 he became the first Slovenian major. In the year 1923 he was forcibly retired and awarded a medal with the order of the white eagle with sword, 3rd degree. He died in 1934.
The statues of Maister can be found in his native town, Kamnik, in Maribor and in Ljubljana.
I like him because because, thanks to him, I am Slovene and I'm proud that i'm SLOVENE.
