My hero is Robert Lawrence Stine. He was born on October 8, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, and now lives in an apartment building in New York City. He is not only a prestigious author himself, but he also urges children to write. “If you want to be a writer, read as much as you can. Read as many different writers as you can. Soak up the styles. You can learn all kinds of ways to say things.”
R.L. Stine has written the Goosebumps and Fear Street series which are loved by many readers. Because of his books, he has received numerous awards including the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and Disney Adventures Kids’ Choice Awards. He is also a favorite author in NEA’s Read Across America program. Goosebumps has sold over 250 million copies and Fear Street has sold over 80 million. It is safe to say that he has made a successful career.
R.L. Stine is an important author because his books are enjoyed by millions of children. He encourages children everywhere to read and write. He has made a difference in my life by showing me the joy of reading. Goosebumps is the first major book series I ever read, and without it, I wouldn’t enjoy reading as much as I do now. R.L. Stine has changed my life.
