Legacy Charter School MY HERO Learning Circles 2015

A truly mind blowing experience for me and my grade 2 students! - Teacher, Precious Allen

A truly mind blowing experience for me and my grade 2 students.

Although I was not able to complete this part of the project, I must say that this experience was a life changer for me.

Because of this program, I was able to meet and greet new people and I feel that I have made a life long friend in Jim and Anne. I was able to do a professional development of iEARN at my school and now my principal is going to implement iEARN school wide!!!

I look forward to joining "My Hero" again next year and I'm hoping that I will be better at balancing the project with my school curriculum.Wendy, I can't thank you enough for being such a great and wonderful leader throughout this entire process.  I was overwhelmed in the beginning but your patience and support is the reason why my kids were able to Skype with students from Canada.

Teacher, Precious Allen

A very happy class after receiving WELCOME LETTERS from our partner classes!
A very successful skype call with our MY HERO Learning Circle project partner classes. Teachers Jim Lamoureux and Anne Thaler from Canada.
Our last day of the MY HERO ELEMENTARY Learning Circles. What an amazing experience for all of us! THANK YOU  MY HERO! And thank you IEARN!

KIDS THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

"I wish I could be a hero one day. This project let me know that anyone can be a hero and that it is important for us to stand up for our rights.  Sometimes, people are too afraid to stand up for their rights; and that's what heroes are for.  Heroes are there to help the people that are too afraid to speak up for themselves." -Andrea

"I really liked this project because it made me see that I don't have to be an adult to make a difference." -Leah

"It was really cool learning about Malala, Nelson Mandela, and other heroes that I didn't know existed.  Some of these heroes are still alive today.  I liked donating to the Malala Fund and the "My Hero" project helped us to learn about heroes outside of Chicago." -Clinton

"The "My Hero" was fun!  I liked skyping with Canada and if I ever visit Canada, I know that I will have a lot of friends there!" -Deshawn
