Zapatista Women

The Zapatista Women are part of an ongoing resistance movement by Indigenous groups living in Chiapas Mexico. They are resisting the policies of a government (a world really) which spiritually, economically, environmentally and physically disregards and disenfranchises indigenous peoples.
The Zapatista women are also battling within their own movement against gender inequality. Since they are often in direct contact with the growing, planting and nurturing of seeds, they are demanding an end to incursions against their native foods by GMO promoters such as Monsanto.
