Jackie McMahon is a freshman at Laguna Beach High School. She has lived in Laguna Beach since birth, and loves her hometown. Along with filmmaking, she enjoys playing golf with her dad, reading, dancing and traveling with her family.

Her film career started just last year, when she participated in a MY HERO Project workshop at her Middle School. She expected little, joining the program for her own enjoyment, but she quickly realized a passion for filmmaking.

Jackie also discovered she had some innate talent. In 2010 she became the first student filmmaker to win twice in the same category of The MY HERO Film Festival. She filmed and produced "Creativity," which won 2nd place in the 2010 MY HERO Film Festival Middle School category. The short film celebrates the artistic process with vibrant color and energy.

Jackie’s film "The Buddy Club" won first place in the Middle School category. It examines an after-school program started by Jackie’s sister Katie, which pairs students with disabilities with other students whom they normally would not have class. The program promotes the building of a community within High School that can stand against attempts at bullying and other anti-social behavior.

Jackie is excited about her projects and enjoys hearing feedback from those who watch them. She plans to make more films and further develop her cinematic talents, in the hopes of reaching an ever wider audience.
