John Winston Lennon

MY HERO: John Lennon By: Lorena Reynaga Ramirez My name is Lorena Reynaga Ramirez, and I’m 14 years old, the person who I admire most is John Lennon because he was a brave man who fought for his thoughts. First, I know about him when I read this famous band The Beatles, and since the first day I got interest on what he did, how does he did it, and why does he did it. This is my Hero Project and I hope you might enjoy it.

John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool, England, on October 9 of 1940, his Dad, Alfred Lennon was a marine, whom years later would went to New Switzerland leaving young Lennon. His mother Julia Stanley was the person who raised Lennon with some help of her sister until she died by an accident car when John was 17 years old. Years went by and Lennon showed great deal of natural talent, and after failing his high school exams, he decided to go to an Art College. There he met Paul McCartney and George Harrison and form “Johnny and the Moondogs y The Nurk Twins”, band that will become “The Beatles”.

A Hero is a person who fights for what he things is best, and never gives up a hero is a person who wants to help other people on their problems. A hero has important values such as love, empathy, honesty, and courage. And that was what John Lennon has. John Lennon is a hero because he fights for what he believed even he died for it. He gave the world a good lesson of peace. He was a voice for world peace, even he composed some songs such as “All you need is Love”, “Give a Peace a Chance” which become an anthem for the anti-war protestors. John was consider a peace keeping missioner, a dreamer, a poet but he was consider mostly a human being who will do anything for help other people and that is what a true hero might be.

In addition, John Lennon was an excellent musician; he showed his feelings by his music, his lyrics, and by his actions. Since he was a little boy John showed that he was talented but he didn´t showed any ambition. So maybe it was kind of hard to understand when he failed his O-level exams. Lennon was a hero since he was little he just move on went he had many problems his early life was full of tragedies, starding with the living of his dad and his mother´s dead. But this events just make young Lennon more strong, and with his talent he early reflect those feelings on his songs.

Lennon made many things with his thoughts and ideas he tried to help the world. He staged the famous and controversial “Bed-In for Peace” which it consists to stay on bed by 1 week on 2 of famous Hotels giving interviews. Many critical people consider him at that time a sick person but Lennon didn’t pay attention to them and kept moving.

Extra Info

Until that day, December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot and murdered by a disturbed man named Mark David Chapman. This man said that he just was asking for Lennon´s autograph but that then he doesn’t know how but he just shot him, and even worse on Yoko´s presence.

And that was John Lennon´s end, but just his body is gone because he continues making diference and he will on the future. John was an angel, those angels that when you see them you can hardly recognize, he is a star who would be always on our hearts, he was an exceptional person. John make us laugh, cry, sang, he make us stop by a moment and think about us and our future, maybe Lennon was a dreamer but he isn´t the only. Like one of his song “Imagine” tell us to join to him and make the world be as one.
