George Washington

In 1732, George Washington was born in Virginia. His brother was an English soldier so he wanted to become a soldier too. When he was young he chopped down his father's cherry tree. He was honest about his mistake, so his father was happy.

A few years later, he fought with England against France in the French and Indian War. In 1759, George Washington married Martha Curtis. In 1775, George Washington became Commander in Chief of the Continental Army fighting against England. At last, George Washington's soldiers defeated England in 1783. In 1789, he became the first president of the U.S.A. In 1799, he died.

George Washington is an important person to the U.S.A. because he helped the Americans win the Revolutionary War. This allowed the Americans to have freedom. I am an American, so George Washington is important to me because he teaches me to be honest.
