General Douglas MacArthur

by Aidan from Loveland

General Douglas MacArthur is very brave, courageous, and he perseveres. Douglas was one of only five men that have reached the rank of The General of the Army.

Bravery doesn't come natural, but for the general it came pretty easily. The General was brave because he assumed command of the 84th infantry brigade and it takes a lot of bravery to take control of a brigade. MacArthur also helped Australia but didn't get anything for that. He was also brave since he got awarded the Purple Heart for getting injured in World War One.

Courage is something most people have, but for some of those people they haven't mastered it. When Douglas was the most courageous he got nominated to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor, and succeeded to do just that. The General had to be very courageous and brave to become the supreme leader of Japan watching over economics, and politics. He had so much courage that he made a promise that he would come back to the Philippines after he left the island to go to war.

General MacArthur had a very persevered mind so that when he made the promise to come back to the Philippines he fulfilled it and came back. Douglas persevered and got Japan back on their feet and led them to a good economy, a good political party and a ton of social changes. In the middle of the Korean War, he got relieved from duty by President Harry S. Truman but soon became the chairman of the board of Remington Rand through perseverance.

General Douglas MacArthur is my hero because he perseveres, he is also a very courageous person, and the best at being brave. He is probably one of the most memorable people that has ever been in the USA. He is also one of the only people to ever reach the rank of The General of the Army.
