Abraham Lincoln

by Janet from Colorado

I think Lincoln was a hero for many reasons. First, I think he was a hero because he was a president. Second, he freed the slaves. Last he was honest.

He was the 16th president

First, Lincoln was a hero because he was a president. He was the 16th president. When he was being elected as president there was another guy who was trying to become president. The other guy who was going against Lincoln tried to raise the taxes. The Americans did not like that so they chose Lincoln. That’s one reason why I think he is a hero.

Second, Lincoln is a hero because he freed the slaves. Lincoln freed the slaves by writing the Emancipation Proclamation. The white farmers did not like that so they got mad at Lincoln. He said, “I do the very best I know how -the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end.” He also said “for those who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they like. That another reason why I think he is a hero.

Last, he was honest. He would tell the truth and only the truth. After all, they just called him Honest Abe. Whenever he would go on stage he would not lie. He would tell the people what they wanted to know.

All in all, those are many reasons why I think he was a hero. He was a president, he was honest, and freed the slaves. There were many other reasons why I think he was a hero. But I chose to pick those three.
